The Kessler Academy 2024
Sunday August 4 to Saturday August 10, 2024
An opportunity for talented young string players to explore string orchestra repertoire from the past century.
This mentorship program, for young professionals and advanced students, will comprise six days of intensive rehearsal followed by a public performance in Vancouver, presented by Music on Main.
Participation will be through audition, recommendation and/or invitation. The orchestra will be without conductor and will be led by members of the Microcosmos Quartet (http://microcosmosquartet.com). (Marc Destrubé, Andrea Siradze - violins, Tawnya Popoff - viola, Rebecca Wenham - cello).
For the 2024 session Hannah Addario-Berry will be replacing Rebecca Wenham.
The cost of the program (ca. $800 per participant) is covered by our generous private sponsors and other contributors.
The orchestra will be made up of 12 violins, 4 violas, 4 cellos and 2 double basses.

Arnold Schönberg - Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night)
Béla Bartók - Divertimento (1939)
